Samantha Ruppenthal

Samantha is an associate in the Firm’s Bankruptcy, Workout and Restructuring practice group.  Samantha has experience representing debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, trustees and creditor’s committees in complex Chapter 11 bankruptcy cases, insolvency proceedings, and other distressed situations. She also has experience with bankruptcy-related litigation, both in the U.S. and internationally, including representing liquidators in chapter 15 bankruptcy cases, in cross-border litigations involving fraud and insolvency issues, and in related asset-tracing and recovery actions. Samantha also has extensive experience representing debtors, lenders and strategic buyers in receiverships and out of court workouts, including Article 9 sales and assignments for the benefit of creditors.

 

Prior to joining the Firm, Samantha was an associate at two Manhattan-based international law firms in their Restructuring and Litigation groups.  Samantha also served as a law clerk for the Honorable Alan S. Trust, Chief U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of New York.

 

Samantha earned her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 2016, where she served as the Executive Affairs Editor of the American Bankruptcy Law Review and was an ABA Antitrust Janet D. Steiger Fellow.  She also earned her Master of Laws degree in Bankruptcy from St. John’s University School of Law in 2017. Samantha earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York, Oneonta in 2010.

 

Samantha is admitted to practice in New York State, as well as the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
